Morocco and Panama reiterate their willingness to further strengthen the development of bilateral relations.

Panama and Morocco reiterated on Friday their determination to consolidate their excellent bilateral relations, which have experienced “significant development in recent years.”

Following his meeting in Rabat with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita, the Panamanian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carlos Arturo Hoyos Boyd, on a working visit to the Kingdom, expressed his deep satisfaction with the excellent evolution of relations between the two countries.

He emphasized that the 1st session of political consultations between the Republic of Panama and the Kingdom of Morocco, held on May 21, took place in a spirit of friendship, mutual respect, and shared vision.

The Deputy Minister further affirmed that these consultations constitute a historic milestone in the relations between Panama and Morocco and mark the starting point of a structured, regular, and ambitious dialogue that will further consolidate this relationship of friendship and mutual trust.

For the first time since the establishment of their diplomatic relations, Morocco and Panama held a formal mechanism of political consultations, testifying to the growing maturity of their partnership and their shared commitment to elevating bilateral cooperation to a higher level.

Carlos Arturo Hoyos Boyd stressed that Panama considers Morocco a strategic partner in Africa, the Arab world, and the Atlantic and Mediterranean regions, noting that the two countries share many common visions regarding major international challenges: dialogue as a tool for conflict resolution, the promotion of regional stability, South-South cooperation, sustainable development, maritime security, the fight against violent extremism, and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States.

He stated that his discussions with Bourita identified vast opportunities for cooperation in areas of mutual interest, notably trade, logistics, port infrastructure, maritime connectivity, investment, security, diplomatic training, culture, tourism, and academic exchanges.

The two officials also agreed to strengthen coordination within multilateral forums and international organizations on issues of regional and global interest.

The Panamanian official welcomed the dynamism of institutional exchanges between the two countries as well as the active role played by their respective diplomatic missions to strengthen human, economic, and cultural ties between the two peoples.

He concluded that Panama and Morocco are two forward-looking nations, committed to peace, cooperation, and openness to the world.
