A Historic Moroccan Initiative Supporting Women’s Rights in Diplomacy: The Establishment of an International Day to Celebrate Women in Diplomacy

The United Nations Human Rights Council has adopted a historic resolution on women’s rights and diplomacy, thanks to a Moroccan initiative and the support of a coalition of countries. This decision, identified as A/HRC/58/L.15, aims to enhance women’s representation in diplomacy and protect their rights, in addition to declaring an international day to celebrate women in diplomacy.

This resolution embodies the international community’s commitment to increasing the participation of women in diplomatic decision-making, reflecting the importance of gender balance in advancing international policies and promoting human rights.

This international day marks a significant step toward achieving justice and equality for women around the world.
