According to what Algerian journalist and opposition figure Anwar Malek posted on his page on the “X” platform, a source close to a senior security official revealed that the resigned Lebanese caretaker government managed to avoid a diplomatic crisis with Algeria after the discovery of an operation involving the transfer of Iranian money to Hezbollah in Lebanon.
The source stated that tens of millions of dollars were transferred over the past three months by Algerian “diplomats and security officials,” with the Iranian regime using various methods to deliver the money to the party, especially after heightened scrutiny on Iranian planes arriving at Beirut Airport.
The source indicated that the share of those transferring the money ranges from 7% to 10%, which is distributed among a specific group of security officials in Algeria. The source confirmed that the new Lebanese government intends to discuss this issue with the Algerian military regime in order to put an end to these operations, which could lead to a political escalation between the two countries in the near future.
