Today in Beijing, Mr. Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, held an official meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, during which the two parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
This memorandum aims to establish a mechanism for strategic dialogue between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Morocco and the People’s Republic of China, representing an important step towards strengthening bilateral relations and consolidating the partnership between the two countries.
The mechanism builds on the content of the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership signed on May 11, 2016, in Beijing, by His Majesty King Mohammed VI and Chinese President Xi Jinping. It seeks to restructure high-level dialogue between Morocco and China and to reinforce political and diplomatic cooperation based on trust and mutual understanding.
The signing of this memorandum highlights the importance of consolidating the foundations of joint action between the two states, expanding avenues of partnership in vital sectors, and creating a permanent platform for coordinating foreign policies and exchanging views on regional and international issues of common interest.
