Morocco has successfully strengthened its position as a leading tourist destination in Africa, welcoming 17.4 million visitors this year, marking a significant increase of 20%. This exceptional growth not only reflects the success of its tourism strategy but also highlights the major transformation the Kingdom is undergoing in the tourism sector.
Morocco has surpassed its set targets for 2026, where it was expected to receive around 16 million visitors that year. However, thanks to its rich cultural heritage, the diverse tourism products offered by its historic cities, and its stunning beaches, Morocco was able to exceed expectations and achieve this record.
Morocco’s tourism strategy, which includes promoting lesser-known areas, improving infrastructure, and enhancing service quality, has proven successful in attracting increasing numbers of tourists from around the world. The wide variety of experiences offered, from cultural tours in cities like Fes, Marrakech, and Rabat, to adventures in the Merzouga Desert, to the Atlantic beaches, has made Morocco a favored destination for all.
This achievement also reflects Morocco’s ability to adapt to global challenges, especially those arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, where the Kingdom implemented stringent preventive measures that enabled tourism to recover swiftly.
It is expected that Morocco will continue to strengthen its position as one of Africa’s top tourist destinations in the coming years, contributing to the support of the national economy and creating more opportunities in tourism, hospitality, and transportation sectors.
