Agadir Atlantic Hub: A New Dry Port Project Boosting Economic and Logistics Development in the Souss-Massa Region

ALDAR/
A memorandum of understanding has been signed to establish the “Agadir Atlantic Hub” dry port project in the Drarga commune, spanning an area of 100 hectares to become the largest logistics facility in the region. This strategic initiative aims to develop the logistics sector and enhance economic activity on both national and international levels, focusing on supporting infrastructure to keep pace with the rapid growth of global trade. Strategically located near the city of Agadir, the project serves as a vital link between northern and southern Morocco, improving the efficiency of goods storage and transportation.
The project is expected to ease the pressure on the current Port of Agadir by offering a modern and integrated alternative, reducing transportation costs, and boosting the competitiveness of local companies in national and international markets. Additionally, it will create hundreds of direct and indirect job opportunities, particularly during the construction and operational phases.
The “Agadir Atlantic Hub” represents a significant boost to the regional economy amidst the continuous expansion of agricultural and industrial sectors in the area. It is also a driving force for attracting domestic and foreign investments, aligning with Morocco’s vision to transform the Souss-Massa region into a developed economic and logistics hub.
This project is not merely a logistics facility but a comprehensive developmental vision that aims to reduce the time and cost of goods transportation while strengthening Morocco’s position as a strategic trade hub between Europe and Africa. With this ambitious step, the Souss-Massa region reinforces its status as a dynamic economic center that meets the requirements of sustainable development and paves the way for Morocco’s promising and prosperous economic future.
