Lekjaa Highlights National Team’s ‘Honorable’ Participation in Women’s World Cup
“In their first participation in the Women’s World Cup, the national team has succeeded in illustrating the vision for the development of Moroccan sport in general, and football in particular, set out by His Majesty King Mohammed VI over two decades ago,” the FRMF president stated on the sidelines of the women’s team delegation arriving at the Mohammed V airport this Thursday after making it to the round of 16 in the World Cup.
“This is the start of a journey that will undoubtedly be more successful for the women’s national team,” he emphasized, promising that “efforts will be redoubled and the various resources available will be put to work in order to live up to the aspirations of the Sovereign and the Moroccan public.”
The Moroccan women’s team withdrew from the World Cup after losing 4-0 to France in the Round of 16 in Adelaide on Tuesday.
They had qualified for the second round after losing to Germany (6-0) and winning against South Korea and Colombia respectively by one goal to none.
