Bourita and Safadi Discuss Strengthening Moroccan-Jordanian Strategic Partnership and Preparations for Joint High Commission Meeting

Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, held talks on Tuesday in Amman with Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, focusing on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and strengthen coordination between the two brotherly nations.

During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the commitment of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to further develop their bilateral relations across various sectors and elevate them to broader levels that serve the shared interests of both countries.

The two ministers also reviewed ongoing preparations for the sixth session of the Moroccan-Jordanian Joint High Commission, scheduled to be held before the end of the current year. They stressed the importance of thorough preparations for the meeting in order to further consolidate strategic ties between Rabat and Amman and open new avenues for cooperation across a wide range of sectors.

Bourita and Safadi praised the positive momentum characterizing the historic and strong relations between the two countries. They noted that, thanks to the guidance and direct patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco and his brother His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein of Jordan, bilateral ties have evolved into a multidimensional strategic partnership encompassing various fields of cooperation.

The discussions also addressed regional developments and the challenges facing the region. In this regard, both ministers underscored the importance of maintaining close consultation and continuous coordination on issues of mutual concern, with the aim of supporting security, stability, and sustainable development across the region.

The talks were attended by Morocco’s Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Fouad Akhrif; Morocco’s Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, Mohamed Aït Ouali; as well as the Director of Maghreb, Arab and Islamic Affairs at Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Khalid Bencheikh.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of Morocco’s participation in the consultative meeting of Arab foreign ministers and the resumed 165th ordinary session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level, held in the Jordanian capital, Amman.
