Morocco and India Sign Comprehensive Defense Agreement to Strengthen Security and Military Cooperation

Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and his Moroccan counterpart, Abdeltif Loudiyi, signed today in Rabat a strategic Memorandum of Understanding on defense cooperation.

The agreement sets out a clear roadmap to enhance the partnership between the two countries in several areas, including counterterrorism, maritime security, cyber defense, as well as cooperation in peacekeeping, military medicine, training, and the development of the defense industry.

Following the signing, the Indian Defense Minister stated that his talks with his Moroccan counterpart were “highly productive,” stressing that relations between the two countries “have witnessed significant growth” in recent years, and that this agreement represents a major boost towards a deeper and more effective partnership.

For his part, the Moroccan minister highlighted the importance of this step in strengthening the Kingdom’s defense capabilities and advancing South-South cooperation to confront regional and international security challenges, particularly those related to cross-border threats.

This agreement reaffirms the strategic orientation of both countries towards diversifying their defense partnerships and opening up to new areas of cooperation that contribute to strengthening stability and security at both the regional and international levels.
