Rabat is witnessing a landmark architectural and security development with the near completion of the new central headquarters of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN). This massive project, often referred to as the “Moroccan Pentagon,” marks a significant leap in the Kingdom’s security infrastructure.

The state-of-the-art complex, sprawling over a vast 20-hectare site, took over five years to construct. The design reflects a harmonious blend of modern functionality and authentic Moroccan architecture. With an estimated cost of 2 billion dirhams, the facility brings together all central services of the national police under one roof, in line with a vision aimed at enhancing coordination and elevating the quality of security services.

The project is expected to be officially inaugurated by King Mohammed VI, likely on the occasion of Throne Day—an event that would underscore the strategic importance of this complex in Morocco’s institutional and security reform agenda.

The new headquarters includes a wide range of integrated facilities, such as a modern archive center, a museum chronicling the history of national security, a state-of-the-art electronic identification center, sports facilities, accommodation units, an advanced information hub, and a massive parking garage that can hold approximately 1,500 vehicles.

This new complex represents a major milestone in the modernization of Morocco’s national security apparatus—advancing not only in terms of infrastructure but also in reinforcing principles of transparency, efficiency, and institutional openness, all in line with the country’s ongoing transformations across multiple sectors.
