Trump stated that now is the ideal time for Powell to take a bold step toward reducing interest rates, emphasizing that such a move could shift the prevailing perception of him as an official who is consistently late in making economic decisions. He pointed to falling energy prices, declining inflation, an improving labor market, and a significant drop in the prices of essential goods—such as a 69% decrease in egg prices—as encouraging signs that have occurred in just the past two months. He described these developments as a “major victory for America.”

In his typically critical tone, Trump ended his message to Powell with a pointed remark: “Cut interest rates, Jerome, and stop playing politics!”—suggesting that the delay in taking action may be politically motivated rather than based on economic reasoning.
