The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Mr. Nasser Bourita, received a congratulatory message from his Burkinabé counterpart, Mr. Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré, praising the Kingdom’s leadership role in promoting dialogue and cooperation across the continent.
This message follows the informal consultations organized by Morocco’s presidency of the African Union’s Peace and Security Council on March 18, 2025, with the participation of the member states of the Alliance for the Sahel—Burkina Faso, Gabon, Guinea, Mali, Niger, and Sudan—amid the political challenges facing these countries.
In his message, the Burkinabé Foreign Minister commended Morocco’s leadership of the Council, stating that the Moroccan initiative reflects a realistic and open vision for dialogue, contributing to security and stability in Africa. He also emphasized that these efforts align with Morocco’s African policy under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, which is based on cooperation, solidarity, and the promotion of stability in African nations.
It is worth noting that this initiative provides participating countries with an opportunity to engage with the Peace and Security Council regarding the progress of their political transition processes, thereby facilitating their reintegration into the African Union. This step also reaffirms Morocco’s commitment to collective African action, following a comprehensive approach aimed at consolidating peace and security and fostering sustainable development across the continent.
