House of Representatives Organizes Second Forum of Chairpersons of Foreign Affairs Committees of African Parliaments

The House of Representatives organizes, on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at the Seat of the House in Rabat, the Second Forum of Chairpersons of Foreign Affairs Committees of African Parliaments under the theme: “Towards Establishing Lasting Foundations for Stability and Security in Africa.”

The organization of this Session falls within the framework of cooperating and coordinating efforts made by African Parliaments to address the challenges Africa faces. It also reflects the commitment of the Kingdom of Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist him, to reinforcing cooperation and solidarity at the African level, and demonstrates the strong will to solidify African parliamentary cooperation to address the various challenges arising in the continent.

The participants in this Session aspire to strengthen coordination, dialogue, and consultation between the Foreign Affairs Committees of African Parliaments on the issues of peace and security, particularly through discussing two main topics: “Mediation and Coexistence: Towards Addressing Conflicts and Exploring Parliamentary Mechanisms to Prevent Crises and Strengthen Lasting Peace;” and “Economic Integration and Development Paths as a Foundation for Security in Africa.”

It should be noted that the House of Representatives held, in July 2023, the First Meeting of Chairpersons of Foreign Affairs Committees of African Parliaments on “African Parliamentary Cooperation Amidst Current Challenges.” The participants underscored in the final declaration the unity and integrity of Africa, and their attachment to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of African States. They also stressed the necessity of strengthening African parliamentary cooperation to achieve sustainable development and tackle the current global challenges.
