The Moroccan group Somagec continues to expand its development projects across the African continent, announcing the start of several strategic infrastructure projects in Angola, notably an electric highway that will connect the country to its neighbor, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, at a significant cost of 130 billion Moroccan centimes.
This project represents a major step in enhancing regional connectivity in West Africa and is expected to have a significant impact on the economies of both Angola and the Congo.
The massive project, which will be carried out by Somagec, features a modern design. The electric highway will be equipped with infrastructure that allows for the operation of electric vehicles, marking an advanced step toward the development of sustainable transportation in the region. The highway is directly linked to expanding the road network between Angola and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which will contribute to improving trade and transportation between the two countries.
This project reflects the transformation that many African countries are undergoing toward sustainability in infrastructure projects. At the same time, it provides enormous opportunities for investment in green technologies and renewable energy. The new highway will also directly affect time and cost savings, whether in goods transportation or commuting between the capitals, Luanda and Kinshasa.
Somagec is one of Morocco’s leading companies in public works and infrastructure. Over the past years, it has contributed to the implementation of many large-scale projects across the African continent. The company has proven its ability to carry out integrated projects in various fields, from roads and ports to energy and water projects, making it a key partner in executing strategic projects across the continent.
With this project in Angola, Somagec continues to strengthen its role as a key player in developing infrastructure across the continent, leveraging its technical and managerial capabilities to execute complex projects in diverse environments.
The Angolan government is continuously working to implement strategic infrastructure projects to stimulate the national economy and diversify its income sources, reducing its reliance on oil exports. In this context, infrastructure projects like the electric highway are pivotal steps in supporting Angola’s economy and promoting regional integration in West Africa.
With the commencement of this project, Angola continues to position itself as a major supporter of sustainable development in the region, enhancing its status as a key investment destination in various fields.
These projects reflect Morocco’s commitment to deepening cooperation with African countries through strategic partnerships aimed at fostering sustainable economic development. They provide Morocco with the opportunity to leverage its expertise in infrastructure while strengthening its ties with other African nations, further cementing its role as an economic bridge between the north and south of the continent.
Through these major projects, the benefits of Moroccan-African cooperation extend beyond improving infrastructure, encompassing the enhancement of cultural and commercial exchanges between countries, thus opening vast opportunities for development in various sectors.
This project is a clear example of the growing role Moroccan companies are playing in implementing strategic projects that benefit the African continent, aligning with Somagec’s vision to develop sustainable solutions that meet future needs.
