Egypt to Host Emergency Arab Summit to Discuss Developments in the Palestinian Issue

ALDAR/
The Arab Republic of Egypt is preparing to host an emergency Arab summit on February 27, 2025, in Cairo to discuss the latest developments in the Palestinian issue. This summit, which comes at a very sensitive time, follows coordination with the Kingdom of Bahrain, which currently holds the presidency of the Arab Summit, as well as with the General Secretariat of the Arab League.
Intensive consultations were held between Egypt and other Arab countries at the highest levels in recent days, including coordination with the State of Palestine, which had formally requested the summit. This move is part of strengthening Arab efforts to support the Palestinian cause amid the rapidly changing circumstances in the region, where Palestine faces significant challenges that threaten its political and humanitarian stability.
The summit aims to adopt unified positions from Arab countries and provide practical solutions to many urgent issues related to Palestinian rights, as well as to enhance Arab solidarity to confront attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause. The summit is expected to witness intense discussions on ways to counter Israeli practices in Palestinian territories, including settlement expansion, arrests, and forced displacement, which have escalated recently.
The summit will also serve as an opportunity to reaffirm the Arab countries’ commitment to continuing their support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, particularly regarding the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital and the rejection of the forced displacement of Gaza’s residents outside their land, in accordance with the plan proposed by Trump during his meeting with Netanyahu.
