The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representing the current administration that governs the country following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, revealed that Morocco is among the 24 countries that sent an official delegation to Damascus as part of the restoration of diplomatic relations with the new Syrian administration.
Official Syrian sources confirmed that this initiative is part of Damascus’ policy to restore relations with Arab countries after losing several regional ties in recent years.
Among the countries showing interest in strengthening cooperation with Syria, Morocco stands out as a key actor, having supported the Syrian people since the start of the Syrian revolution.
A statement issued by the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also indicated that Nasser Bourita, the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, was among the 14 Arab ministers who exchanged phone calls with the new Syrian Foreign Minister, Shaibani. This reflects the desire of many Arab countries to resume cooperation with Syria in various fields. This call is considered an important step toward strengthening Arab diplomatic relations with Damascus, confirming that many Arab countries are seeking to move past the Syrian crisis and reopen relations with Syria.
