Algeria Threatens Its Economic and Diplomatic Security with an Open Conspiracy Against Turkey
ALDAR | Analysis
The Algerian regime’s support for Kurdish separatists affiliated with northeastern Syria represents an unfriendly stance toward Turkey, a longstanding partner in various fields.
This blatant support reflects an overt conspiracy aimed at undermining Turkey’s national security, placing Algeria’s economy in an extremely precarious position.
Algeria has long relied on Turkish investments in key sectors such as steel and iron manufacturing, automotive, agriculture, and food production. Turkey has not been just a trade partner; it has played a pivotal role in bolstering Algeria’s economy through 1,500 companies and 636 investment projects worth a total of $22 billion. However, the Algerian government appears to have chosen a risky and uncalculated path that threatens to dismantle these profitable relations.
Algeria’s involvement in the Kurdish conflict can be seen as a deliberate step to destabilize Turkey, a regional ally. This hostile stance clearly reveals Algeria’s conspiracy against Turkey’s interests, a move that could have serious repercussions for the future of bilateral relations.
If Turkey, in a natural response to this antagonistic policy, decides to reduce its investments or gradually withdraw from strategic projects in Algeria, this could lead to the collapse of several vital sectors upon which the Algerian economy depends. The industrial sector would not be the only one affected; the labor market would also suffer significantly, as Turkish companies provide hundreds of thousands of jobs for Algerian citizens.
The simplistic narratives promoted by the Algerian regime about “sovereignty” might lead the country into a suffocating economic crisis. This crisis would not be limited to the economic sphere but would extend to Algeria’s social and political stability, further isolating it from the international community. Algeria, which had achieved some economic growth thanks to Turkish support, may now find itself facing the consequences of an ill-considered, adventurous policy.
The policies adopted by the Algerian regime reveal a lack of wisdom and a failure to manage international relations effectively. Instead of investing in strengthening sustainable partnerships, Algeria seems to be contributing to destabilizing its own economic and political landscape by supporting issues that do not align with its strategic interests in the region.
