Moroccan authorities have stated that the country has not been a party to this legal proceeding at any stage and is therefore not bound by the judgment rendered. The Moroccan government has criticized the decision, calling it legally erroneous and based on dubious facts, arguing that it reflects, at best, a misunderstanding of the reality of the situation, and at worst, an obvious political bias.
Furthermore, Morocco accuses the Court of overstepping its competencies by encroaching on the prerogatives of the competent United Nations bodies, challenging their firm and well-established positions. In response to this decision, Morocco has called on the Council of the European Union, the European Commission, and member states to take the necessary measures to uphold their international commitments and protect the achievements of their partnership with the Kingdom.
Morocco has also requested that appropriate legal guarantees be provided to it as a strategic partner of the European Union in several key areas. The country reaffirms its principled position, refusing to conclude any agreement or legal instrument that does not respect its territorial integrity and national sovereignty.
