Buchan has an extensive record in diplomacy and investment, having previously served as the U.S. Ambassador to Spain and Andorra from 2017 to 2021. In addition to his political career, Buchan is known as the founder of Hunter Global Investors, an investment firm active in various economic sectors.
His appointment did not come as a surprise, given that he is one of the prominent financial backers of Trump’s campaigns, playing a key role in supporting the Republican Party both financially and politically.
