President Xi Jinping Meets with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul of Thailand

On the afternoon of October 31, 2025 local time, President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul of Thailand on the sidelines of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Gyeongju, the Republic of Korea.

President Xi expressed condolences on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, and asked Prime Minister Anutin to convey his sympathies to His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn.

President Xi stressed that China and Thailand are good neighbors, good friends, good relatives, and good partners. The frequent exchanges reflect a bond as close as one family. Following his visit to Thailand in November 2022, the bilateral relationship entered the new stage of building a community with a shared future, with a stronger foundation of friendship and more robust momentum for cooperation. This year marks the 50th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic relations and the golden jubilee of China-Thailand friendship. At the new historical starting point, the two sides should build on their strong bond to deepen and add more substance to the China-Thailand community with a shared future, support each other’s modernization drive, and make greater contributions to regional peace, stability, development and prosperity.

President Xi underscored that not long ago, the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China convened its fourth plenary session and adopted the Recommendations for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan. China stands ready to synergize development strategies with Thailand and share its development experience in the new era. The two sides should accelerate the construction of the China-Thailand Railway, enhance cooperation in the trade of agricultural products, green economy, digital innovation, and other areas to deliver a stronger sense of fulfillment to the peoples of both countries. The two sides should deepen people-to-people exchanges in tourism and youth and at subnational levels, and hold successful activities for the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties to foster stronger people-to-people connectivity. It is important to step up the fight against transnational crimes such as online gambling and telecom fraud so as to create a safe environment for bilateral exchanges and cooperation. Facing a world undergoing transformation and turbulence, China is ready to work with Thailand in the implementation of the Global Governance Initiative, uphold international fairness and justice, and safeguard the common interests of the Global South.

Prime Minister Anutin said that President Xi’s condolences on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother is very important for the Thai people, and Thailand is grateful. Thailand has followed the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and the adoption of the Recommendations for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan. China’s achievement in development is admirable. The 50th anniversary of the Thailand-China diplomatic relationship is a significant milestone in bilateral relations. Thailand wishes to take this opportunity to enhance high-level exchanges with China, strengthen cooperation in such areas as economy and trade, science and technology, connectivity, and tourism, and take Thailand-China relations to new heights. Thailand will continue to crack down hard on criminal activities such as online gambling and telecom fraud. The Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and the Global Security Initiative proposed by President Xi reflect China’s role as a responsible major country in international affairs. Thailand highly appreciates and actively supports these initiatives. Thailand is willing to strengthen multilateral coordination with China and work together to promote regional peace, stability, and prosperity.

Cai Qi and Wang Yi, among others, were present at the meeting.
