Bourita meets with a delegation from the Italian parliamentary intergroup “Support for the Sahara Autonomy Initiative”

Speaking to the press following the meeting, Ettore Rosato, coordinator of the delegation and Secretary General of the Azione Party, said that the purpose of the visit was to reaffirm his group’s support for “the autonomy plan for the Moroccan Sahara” as a “long-term peace proposal,” expressing his conviction that an international resolution, under the auspices of the UN Security Council, would make it possible to build “lasting peace.”
Rosato also praised the development momentum in “the Southern Provinces of the Kingdom,” as well as the region’s potential and the infrastructure it has in various socio-economic sectors.
This visit, he said, which coincides with the Kingdom’s commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Green March, is part of the celebration of 200 years of diplomatic and friendly relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Italy.
As part of this visit, the Italian parliamentary intergroup “Support for the Autonomy Initiative in the Sahara” also visited the Southern Provinces to meet with local authorities and elected officials, as well as to visit structural socio-economic development projects in the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region.
The Italian parliamentary intergroup delegation included seven members of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate of the Republic, representing both the majority and opposition parties.
