In a medical breakthrough that highlights the competence of Moroccan minds, Dr. Youssef El Azouzi, a specialist in neurology, announced the registration of a unique invention—the first of its kind worldwide: a device capable of filtering blood directly from within the blood vessels in a precise and efficient manner. This innovation, described as revolutionary, goes beyond blood purification, as it also regulates inflammatory cells and certain white blood cells, making it a groundbreaking tool in strengthening the immune system and facilitating organ transplants without the risk of rejection.

El Azouzi explained that the device, which took years of research and experimentation to develop, could mark a real revolution in medical practices in hospitals, particularly in treating patients suffering from chronic inflammation or severe immune deficiencies. He emphasized that the primary goal is to enable doctors to control the body’s reactions during organ transplants, thus paving the way for safer and more effective therapeutic solutions for thousands of patients worldwide.

This scientific achievement was not a matter of chance but rather the result of a long journey of dedication and scientific research led by El Azouzi and his team through his private company, Ortho Medical, which allocated significant financial resources with the support of benefactors to complete the project. The research and prototype manufacturing cost exceeded a quarter of a million dollars, most of which was spent on laboratory studies and practical trials that demonstrated the device’s effectiveness without recording any concerning side effects.

Reports indicate that the invention has already undergone rigorous clinical trials on laboratory animals in U.S. research facilities, where it showed remarkable ability in controlling and directing inflammatory cells—a first step toward its eventual approval for human medical use.

Youssef El Azouzi is considered one of Morocco’s most distinguished talents in medical innovation. In 2019, he won the title of “Best Inventor in the Arab World” in the Stars of Science competition for inventing a device designed for patients with heart failure. Today, he continues his scientific journey with this new project, proving that Moroccan medical research is capable of competing with the world’s leading research centers and opening unprecedented therapeutic horizons.

El Azouzi’s invention represents more than a personal achievement; it stands as evidence that Morocco has the capacity to produce pioneering medical solutions that can reshape the rules of modern medicine and give hope to millions of patients awaiting real chances of recovery.
