Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, presided on Friday alongside his Ecuadorian counterpart, Gabriela Sommerfeld, over the inauguration ceremony of the new Embassy of the Republic of Ecuador in the capital, Rabat.

This event marks a major milestone in the strengthening of bilateral cooperation between the two countries. It reflects the growing momentum in relations between Rabat and Quito, especially following Ecuador’s recent decision to withdraw its recognition of the so-called “Sahrawi Republic” and its clear alignment with Morocco’s territorial integrity.

The official opening of this diplomatic mission is not only symbolic in nature; it also paves the way for expanding cooperation across several key sectors, including trade, investment, security, and diplomacy. This step brings new opportunities for economic actors in both countries, at a time when Ecuador is seeking access to new markets in Africa and Morocco continues to advance its ambition of consolidating partnerships in Latin America.

This initiative further strengthens Morocco’s growing presence in the Latin American region, offering a tangible embodiment of the Royal vision aimed at diversifying international partnerships and asserting Morocco’s geopolitical standing on the global stage.
