British Deputy PM Praises Progress in Bolstering UK-Morocco Partnership Since 'New Era' Starting June 1, 2025

Speaking during a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita, who was on an official visit to London, Lammy highlighted the progress achieved since the launch of the Enhanced Strategic Partnership, sealed between the two countries during their Strategic Dialogue held on June 1, 2025, in Rabat. He noted that “one year after the signing of our Strategic Partnership, we continue to collaborate in support of growth and safety .”
This Dialogue marked a new direction for bilateral cooperation, with the aim of capitalizing on the many sectors open to this renewed partnership between two countries linked by diplomatic relations dating back to over 800 years—”one of the oldest diplomatic relationships in the world,” Lammy noted.
Morocco has now established itself as a leading strategic partner of the United Kingdom, playing a central role in sectors critical to the sovereignty and resilience of both countries, particularly in areas of safety and defense, maritime cooperation, energy transition, food security, water resource management and health. This momentum forms part of an integrated approach aimed at building sustainable, high-value-added cooperation around shared strategic priorities.
The Enhanced Strategic Partnership between the two countries also encompasses strengthening regional stability.
