The Moroccan national beach volleyball teams—both men’s and women’s—have been crowned champions of the 2025 African Beach Volleyball Championship for seniors, held in the coastal city of Martil in northern Morocco.

The tournament, which concluded on Sunday, June 29, saw wide participation from top African teams. From the outset, Morocco emerged as the frontrunner, thanks to intensive preparations and the advanced sports infrastructure provided by Moroccan sports authorities for this continental event.

In the men’s category, the final match was an all-Moroccan showdown, with two national teams facing each other—an indication of the dominance of Moroccan athletes. The standout duo, El Gharouti and Saber, clinched the title after a fierce battle, winning 2-1 against the seasoned pair of Elias and El Gharoui. The final was a rare moment of national celebration for Moroccan beach volleyball, with chants echoing across the sandy stadium in Martil amidst a large crowd of fans and media.

In the women’s competition, the Moroccan players continued their impressive run and secured the continental title after a series of convincing victories over strong teams such as Nigeria, Kenya, and Egypt. The women’s team showcased a high level of technical and tactical harmony, reflecting the outcomes of a development program for women’s volleyball launched by the Royal Moroccan Volleyball Federation in recent years.

With these dual titles, Morocco has secured a strong presence at the upcoming Beach Volleyball World Cup, scheduled to be held in Australia this November. Morocco will represent the African continent in both the men’s and women’s categories—marking a historic milestone in the nation’s beach volleyball record.

This Moroccan achievement was praised by the African Volleyball Confederation, which commended the high-level organization of the tournament and the impressive performance of the national teams. Many analysts have viewed this success as a reflection of the maturity of Morocco’s national sports project, especially in disciplines that were once considered marginal, such as beach volleyball.

The Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, in partnership with the Royal Moroccan Volleyball Federation, is betting on this momentum to achieve further international successes and to expand the sport’s grassroots base by developing a new generation of champions.
