In a moving interview filled with echoes of history and human diplomacy, former Empress of Iran, Farah Pahlavi, reflected on the deep and longstanding bond between the Moroccan royal family and the Pahlavi imperial family during the reign of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.
Farah Pahlavi shared heartfelt memories of the late King Hassan II, highlighting the support and solidarity she received from Morocco during her years in exile following the fall of the Iranian monarchy. “Even when I was in Cairo,” she said, “His Majesty King Hassan II would send me whatever I needed by plane. I never felt alone.”
She also expressed deep admiration for King Mohammed VI, describing him as a kind and gracious leader. “I have a great deal of sympathy and admiration for His Majesty and the Moroccan people. When I visit Morocco, I feel as if I’m returning home—to Iran,” she added.
Her touching testimony reflects a personal connection that transcends politics, showcasing how Morocco—under its royal leadership—has not only played a role on the international diplomatic stage, but has also served as a true humanitarian haven in times of crisis.
Farah Pahlavi’s words are more than a recollection; they stand as a powerful testament to Morocco’s royal diplomacy—rooted in compassion, solidarity, and a consistent commitment to building bridges between nations, even in the darkest of times.
