How the President of Rwanda Debunked Media Claims of Supporting the Polisario: No Mention of Separatists in His Speech

Aldar / Analysis
Amid a wave of fake news promoted by certain Algerian media platforms, Rwandan President Paul Kagame’s speech during his official visit to Algeria contained no claims of support for the Polisario Front.
The speech delivered by Kagame to the press, which was later published in full on the official website of the Rwandan presidency, included not even the slightest reference to the separatist group. This clarification—through the full publication of the speech—served as a diplomatic blow to the political exploitation attempts by Algeria, which seeks to drag its “African partners” into hostile positions against Morocco.
In a clear display of transparency and a refusal to allow his name to be manipulated by misleading media narratives, President Kagame took the initiative to publish the full text of his remarks on his official website, reaffirming his neutrality and awareness of political maneuvering attempts.
The matter didn’t stop there. The Algerian presidency itself published a video recording of the joint press conference, clearly showing that President Kagame made no statements supporting the Polisario, thus debunking the allegations circulated by some media outlets.
Moreover, on the platform X (formerly Twitter), the official tweet from the Rwandan presidency made no mention of the Sahara issue, further reinforcing the credibility of the official stance Kagame was keen to clarify.
