Moroccan Engineer Ibtihaj Abu Saad Shares Her Concerns After Exposing the Use of Artificial Intelligence in the Gaza War

In a candid and inspiring statement to the Spanish news agency EFE, Ibtihaj Abu Saad expressed her deep concerns after being expelled from a technology discussion room. She said: “They may come after me for what I said, but my fear of retaliation doesn’t even compare to my fear of contributing to technologies that are used to kill innocent people.” She added, “My biggest fear is waking up one day and realizing that the code I wrote may have contributed to the death of children. This is the thought that haunts me more than anything else.”
Ibtihaj continued, explaining why she chose to voice her opinion despite the potential consequences: “That’s why I spoke out, knowing there could be repercussions for me. But yes, my fear of contributing to the genocide in Gaza is much greater.”
What disturbs her even more, according to her, is the complicity of major companies like “Microsoft” in these crimes. She emphasized: “Honestly, nothing represents crossing red lines more clearly than this… knowing that the code we write is being used in bombings, surveillance, and targeting civilians is what keeps me awake at night more than any personal consequences I might face because of my stance.”
These words, which represent a cry of conscience, carry a call to stand against the use of technology in the destruction of humanity, highlighting the alleged role of major tech companies in these dangerous issues.
