An official delegation from Kenya has arrived in the city of Laayoune as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between Morocco and Kenya. A partnership agreement is expected to be signed between the Regional Council of Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra and a Kenyan county.
This initiative comes ahead of the official visit announced by the Kenyan President to Morocco, reflecting the growing bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields, particularly within the framework of South-South cooperation, which Morocco is keen to enhance with African nations.
The agreement is part of broader efforts to solidify economic and developmental partnerships between Morocco and Kenya. It is expected to cover multiple areas, including investment, trade exchange, and collaboration in key sectors such as agriculture, energy, and infrastructure.
This visit highlights the dynamic nature of Moroccan diplomacy in Africa, which focuses on fostering joint cooperation and achieving sustainable development. It also comes in the context of the increasing recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara by several African nations, including Kenya, which has previously expressed its support for Morocco’s stance on multiple occasions.
