The Malian Army Denies Claims of a Downed Helicopter and Confirms Intercepting a Drone from Algeria

ALDAR/

The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) have denied claims made by separatists in the Azawad region regarding the downing of a military helicopter in the Tessalit area, asserting that these allegations are baseless.

Separatist groups had announced that they had successfully shot down a Malian army helicopter during ongoing military operations in the region. However, official sources within the Malian army refuted these reports, describing them as part of a media disinformation campaign aimed at destabilizing the country and spreading chaos.

In a related development, Malian forces successfully intercepted a drone launched by separatists from the Témiaouine area inside Algerian territory. This incident serves as further evidence of the continued use of Algerian soil as a launch point for attacks targeting Mali, raising questions about Algeria’s role in the conflict.

This development comes amid escalating tensions between the Malian government and armed groups, as regional and international efforts continue to seek a political solution to the crisis that has persisted for years.
