The French company Colas Rail has announced that it has won three major strategic contracts worth a total of €430 million as part of the high-speed rail (HSR) development project between Marrakech and Kenitra. This project aims to complete and extend the current high-speed rail line, which currently connects Tangier to Kenitra, integrating Marrakech into a modern and advanced transportation network.
This initiative is part of a comprehensive development plan for northern Morocco, designed to upgrade the railway infrastructure to meet global standards. It carries significant strategic importance, as it will play a crucial role in improving domestic transportation and enhancing connectivity between Morocco’s major cities.
Moreover, these projects take on special significance as Morocco prepares to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup. The expansion of the high-speed rail network is expected to improve transportation for fans and travelers during this major global sporting event. This step aligns with Morocco’s long-term vision to enhance its infrastructure and strengthen its competitiveness in the transportation sector.
With the implementation of these works now underway, the project is expected to accelerate in the coming months and be completed within a record timeframe, adhering to the highest technical and engineering standards.
