Chinese President calls for stronger “advanced manufacturing” to consolidate economic modernization

Chinese President Xi Jinping called for continued efforts to build a strong and advanced manufacturing sector, stressing that the development of this vital sector is a key pillar for advancing China’s modernization and achieving the country’s economic rejuvenation.

The remarks by Xi, who is also General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, were included in directives issued alongside the National Conference on Advanced Manufacturing, held in Beijing on Wednesday and Thursday, with broad participation from officials, experts and industrial policymakers.

The presidential directive stressed the need to accelerate technological innovation and modernize supply and manufacturing chains to strengthen China’s competitiveness on the international stage, while building a more resilient economy capable of keeping pace with modern technological developments.
