The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Morocco, Yu Jinsong, reaffirmed Beijing’s unwavering support for Morocco’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as its commitment to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of states. She emphasized that China-Morocco relations have entered a new phase of strategic partnership built on mutual trust, mutual respect, and expanding economic and cultural cooperation.

The ambassador made these remarks during a meeting with Moroccan media representatives and members of the academic community to mark the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. This year’s celebration also coincides with the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the strategic partnership between Rabat and Beijing, which she described as a testament to the strength of bilateral ties and the remarkable progress achieved over the past decade.

Ambassador Yu stated that China and Morocco will continue to support one another on issues concerning their respective core interests. She stressed that Beijing fully respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco and remains firmly committed to the principles of national sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs, which she said constitute the political foundation of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

She further noted that Beijing and Rabat are determined to elevate bilateral cooperation to a higher level by capitalizing on the strengths of both nations and expanding joint projects based on mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
In this context, the ambassador announced that China will implement a full tariff exemption for Morocco, enabling a greater variety of Moroccan products to enter the vast Chinese market. She said the measure would help rebalance bilateral trade and position China-Morocco cooperation as a model for relations between China and Africa, China and the Arab world, and within the broader framework of South-South cooperation.

She highlighted the Tangier Tech project as one of the most significant examples of economic cooperation between the two countries. According to the ambassador, more than 40 companies have already signed investment agreements within the project, representing investments exceeding $4 billion and expected to create more than 22,000 direct jobs in Morocco.
The ambassador added that the volume of trade between China and Morocco, together with Chinese investment commitments in the Kingdom, surpassed $10 billion in 2025, reflecting the growing momentum of economic relations between the two nations.

Speaking about China’s development path, Ambassador Yu stressed that her country’s achievements have been driven by independent decision-making and openness to the world while preserving its national identity. She argued that China has successfully built its own development model without simply replicating foreign experiences.
She also pointed to China’s major advances in advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, aerospace, aviation, and new energy technologies, noting that the country now ranks among the world’s ten most innovative nations. At the same time, she said China has maintained food and industrial security despite having relatively limited arable land compared with the size of its population.
The ambassador also highlighted China’s social achievements, particularly the eradication of extreme poverty by lifting nearly 100 million people out of poverty within eight years—achieving this milestone ten years ahead of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals timeline. She further noted that China has established the world’s largest social security and healthcare system, with more than one billion people covered by the national pension system and healthcare coverage extending to over 95 percent of the population. Life expectancy in China has now risen to more than 79 years.

On economic policy, Ambassador Yu stated that the Communist Party of China continues to pursue long-term strategic planning through its Five-Year Plans. The 14th Five-Year Plan has delivered an average annual economic growth rate of 5.4 percent, while China has retained its position as the world’s leading manufacturing nation for the 16th consecutive year. The country’s gross domestic product has also surpassed 140 trillion yuan.
Turning to international affairs, the ambassador reaffirmed China’s commitment to a global order based on multilateralism, dialogue, and cooperation. She said Beijing rejects unilateralism, polarization, and zero-sum confrontation, arguing that the future of the international community should be built on partnership, shared development, and mutual prosperity.
She also praised Morocco’s support for the global initiatives launched by Chinese President Xi Jinping, particularly the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and efforts to promote more inclusive global governance. She expressed Beijing’s willingness to continue close coordination with Rabat in international forums.
In closing, the Chinese ambassador said that the 68th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Morocco and China, together with the 10th anniversary of their strategic partnership, offers an opportunity to launch a more ambitious new chapter focused on deepening economic cooperation, expanding cultural, tourism, academic, and sports exchanges, and strengthening the bonds of friendship between the two peoples. She expressed confidence that Morocco-China relations will continue to achieve even greater successes in the years ahead.
