Morocco, Finland Confirm Dynamic, Privileged Partnership

The Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Finland lauded, on Sunday in Rabat, the excellence of their relations, described as dynamic and mutually beneficial.

In a Joint Communiqué adopted following the meeting between Finnish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Elina Valtonen and Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, the two ministers noted with satisfaction, in the wake of the visit paid by Bourita to Finland in August 2024, the positive dynamic registered and the promising cooperation prospects.

In the Joint Communiqué, the two ministers reaffirmed their determination to further bolster the economic and trade relations, by focusing on several strategic sectors, namely digitalization, the deployment of secure, resilient and reliable 5G networks, as well as information and communication technologies from trusted providers.

Water-related technologies and renewable energies were also identified as areas of cooperation with high potential for both countries.

The talks between the two ministers also covered several current international issues, including the situation in the Middle East and Europe, as well as developments in the Sahel and Sudan.

Bourita and Valtonen also discussed changes in the world order, reaffirming the importance of an international order based on the rules and principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter, in particular the obligation of States to refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any State.

The official visit of the Finnish foreign minister to the Kingdom at the invitation of Bourita confirms the shared desire of Rabat and Helsinki to consolidate their relations and elevate them to a privileged partnership based on trust, regular political dialogue and enhanced sectoral cooperation.
