Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch held a phone conversation with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez in a moment marked by both humanitarian concern and diplomatic engagement, during which he conveyed the condolences of the Kingdom of Morocco following the tragic train accidents in Spain that resulted in multiple casualties.

During the call, Akhannouch expressed the sincere sympathy of the Moroccan government and its full solidarity with the Spanish government and people, underscoring the Kingdom’s empathy—at the level of leadership, government, and citizens—with the families and relatives of the victims during this difficult time. This gesture reflects the depth of the human ties that bind the two countries.

The conversation went beyond its humanitarian dimension, also serving as an important political and diplomatic opportunity to reaffirm the excellent level reached by relations of friendship and cooperation between Morocco and Spain, amid the positive momentum that has characterized bilateral ties in recent years.

On this occasion, both sides emphasized the strength of the Moroccan-Spanish strategic partnership, which is based on a shared vision and deep political understanding, and guided by the orientations of the leaders of the two countries, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, and His Majesty King Felipe VI.

This high-level exchange reflects the shared commitment of Rabat and Madrid to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation across all fields, on the basis of mutual respect and shared interests, and to consolidate an advanced model of relations between the two shores of the Mediterranean—one founded on trust, coordination, and solidarity in both times of hardship and periods of prosperity.
