Trump Advisor Slaps Algerian Regime in Interview with Algerian Newspaper: Reaffirms U.S. Recognition of Moroccan Sovereignty over the Sahara and Declares Autonomy the Only Negotiable Solution

Massad Boulos, senior advisor to former U.S. President Donald Trump, affirmed in an interview with the Algerian newspaper El Watan during his recent visit to Algeria that the U.S. recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern provinces remains in place. He stressed that this recognition represents the only framework for any potential negotiated solution to this long-standing regional conflict.

In the interview, Boulos stated that the U.S. administration considers the Moroccan autonomy initiative to be “serious, realistic, and credible,” emphasizing that it is “the sole basis” on which a lasting, fair, and mutually acceptable resolution can be built. He added that President Trump had previously called on the parties to engage in constructive negotiations based on this Moroccan proposal, noting that the United States is ready to facilitate this process.
