ALDAR/

On May 19, 2025, three strategic agreements were signed to bolster cooperation in vital sectors including water and energy.

The signed agreements encompass projects related to seawater desalination, water transfer, and the establishment of an ultra-high-voltage power transmission line. These initiatives aim to enhance Morocco’s water and energy security while providing sustainable infrastructure to support the country’s economic and social development.

These agreements are part of the renewed strategic partnership between the two countries, which was reinforced during the official visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the United Arab Emirates. During the visit, a joint declaration titled “Towards an Innovative, Renewed, and Deep-Rooted Partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United Arab Emirates” was signed. The declaration seeks to strengthen cooperation in various sectors, including infrastructure, energy, water, agriculture, tourism, education, and health.

The United Arab Emirates is the largest Arab investor in Morocco, with Emirati investments in the country amounting to around $15 billion. These investments cover strategic projects across multiple fields. Through this economic involvement, the UAE aims to reinforce its position as a key economic partner of Morocco and contribute to the country’s sustainable development.

The agreements mark a significant step toward enhancing cooperation between Morocco and the UAE in vital areas and open new horizons for collaboration in emerging sectors such as renewable energy, green hydrogen, transportation, and logistics. They also reflect the two nations’ commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership and working together toward sustainable development and shared prosperity.

This move demonstrates the shared dedication of Morocco and the UAE to deepening their strategic partnership and jointly advancing sustainable growth and mutual prosperity.
