In a significant event that highlights the deep-rooted cultural ties between Azerbaijan and Morocco, Princess Lalla Hasnaa inaugurated an immersive exhibition titled “The Art of Rabat Carpets” at the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum in Baku. The exhibition showcases the beauty and traditions of authentic Moroccan carpet craftsmanship.
This exhibition is the result of a collaborative effort between the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum and Morocco’s National Foundation of Museums. A memorandum of understanding was signed between the two institutions during the visit of the Azerbaijani museum director, Shirin Malikova, to Morocco.
The exhibition offers an interactive experience for visitors, displaying traditional Moroccan carpets through modern presentation techniques. This allows the audience to engage directly with the artworks and explore the cultural meanings and symbols embedded within them.
This cultural partnership marks the first of its kind between Azerbaijani and Moroccan museums. It aims to strengthen cultural and artistic exchange between the two nations by organizing joint exhibitions and knowledge-sharing programs in the fields of textile arts and traditional crafts.
It is worth noting that the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum is one of the country’s most prominent cultural institutions. It houses a rich collection of traditional carpets and textile-related artworks and serves as a vital center for preserving Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage.
Through this exhibition, new horizons for cultural cooperation between Azerbaijan and Morocco are being opened, contributing to greater mutual understanding and appreciation of the rich heritage both countries proudly uphold.
