DGSN Celebrates 65th Anniversary of its Creation

The National Security family celebrates, on May 16 of each year, the anniversary of the creation of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), which is an opportunity for its members, women and men, to recall with pride the sacrifices made in the service of the security of the country and the citizens.

It is also an occasion to reaffirm their unwavering commitment to protect people and property and to renew their strong attachment to national institutions under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

On the occasion of this anniversary, marked by sincere feelings of patriotism, it is a tradition for the National Security family to assess the results of the achievements and services provided to citizens and to all foreigners in the Kingdom, be they tourists or residents.

This celebration also offers the opportunity to look into the challenges and issues related to new forms of crime and the measures to be taken to bring action plans in line with citizens’ expectations, the DGSN said in a press release.

In view of the current context marked by precautionary measures put in place to safeguard the health security of citizens and curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, the DGSN has decided to cancel all forms of festivities that usually accompany the celebration of its anniversary, while highlighting the short-term strategic orientations of the National Security family in a guidance letter sent to all the central and decentralized services of the Directorate.

In this guidance letter, the Director General of the DGSN and Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) expressed his sincere thanks, his best wishes and his esteem to the family of the National Security, including its female civil servants, engaged on the front line, as well as its men who demonstrate a responsible attachment to preserving the security of the homeland and the citizen, as well as to its retirees who have provided huge services and made great sacrifices to ensure security as a public service and constitutional right for every citizen.

The Director General of the DGSN and the DGST also underlined that the anniversary of the DGSN takes place this year in a context marked by the state of health emergency as well as by increased public demand for the security service in the various fields, noting that this commemoration also coincides with the celebration of Eid Al Fitr and the first days of the blessed month of Chaoual.

He took the opportunity to commend the sacrifices of the women and men of the National Security throughout the period of the state of health emergency, in order to preserve security and protect property, while honoring the memory of those among the members of the national security who lost their lives during this period because of the Covid-19.

He also highlighted the integrated action plans that the DGSN family put in place during the state of emergency, in particular with regard to the application of lockdown measures, the fight against crime and the preservation of public safety, while strengthening the feeling of security and fighting against fake news.

These action plans have played an important role and made a significant contribution to the collective effort to manage the pandemic and mitigate its impact, alongside all the stakeholders who are on the front line in the fight against the pandemic, he pointed out.

The Director General of the DGSN and the DGST called on all officials to continue to demonstrate mobilization, with the same sense of commitment and dedication, in order to better serve citizens in a spirit of self-sacrifice and with full responsibility, by placing the citizen at the top of the security institution’s priorities.

On this occasion, and in full compliance with the distancing and precautionary measures imposed by the pandemic and after completion of the medical check-up of all assistance, the Director General of the DGSN inaugurated large-scale security projects in Casablanca and Kenitra.

These are the new headquarters of the National Laboratory of Scientific and Technical Police, the National Brigade of the Judicial Police, the Police District and the Traffic Accident Service at Avenue Roudani in Casablanca, in addition to the inauguration of the DGSN Equestrian Club in Kenitra.
