Hussein Al-Sheikh, Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), has expressed his deep gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI for the significant efforts made to resolve the crisis of Palestinian funds withheld by Israel.

In a post on the “X” platform, Al-Sheikh emphasized his appreciation for this Moroccan initiative, affirming that this continuous support strengthens the resilience of the Palestinian people on their land in the face of increasing challenges.

This Palestinian acknowledgment aligns with the historical role played by Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in supporting the Palestinian cause—politically, diplomatically, and humanitarianly. As the Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee under the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Moroccan Monarch continues to work towards protecting Palestinian rights and strengthening the resilience of Jerusalem’s residents, in addition to supporting initiatives aimed at alleviating the economic and social hardships of the Palestinian people.

The crisis of funds withheld by Israel is one of the major obstacles facing the Palestinian Authority. Israel has been withholding tax revenues, which constitute a crucial source of Palestinian income, exacerbating the financial crisis of Palestinian institutions. In this context, Morocco has played a key role in mediating and communicating with various parties to resolve this crisis, in line with its policy of solidarity and defense of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

This Moroccan commitment reflects a steadfast position in support of Palestine. Under the leadership of His Majesty the King, the Kingdom has continuously affirmed—through its various diplomatic and political channels—the necessity of a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, based on the establishment of an independent state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

This principled stance of Morocco, which combines political action with humanitarian support, is widely appreciated by the Palestinian leadership. Hussein Al-Sheikh highlighted this by praising the efforts of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, affirming that this fraternal support strengthens the determination of Palestinians to remain on their land and gives new momentum to diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the occupation and fulfilling the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people.
