UAE: High-Speed Train Between Abu Dhabi and Dubai to Arrive in 30 Minutes

The UAE has announced a high-speed train project that will link Abu Dhabi and Dubai, reaching the destination in just 30 minutes. This announcement was made during an official ceremony organized by Etihad Rail at Al Faya Station.

The high-speed train project is a pioneering initiative that reflects the UAE’s vision to enhance national infrastructure through innovative and sustainable transportation solutions. The project, which will allow travel between Abu Dhabi and Dubai in just 30 minutes, is expected to contribute around 145 billion dirhams to the national GDP over the next fifty years.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed stated on his X platform account that the project represents a transformative leap in the transport sector, enhancing communication between the two emirates, and contributing to the improvement of daily life for residents and visitors. He added, “With this project, we are shaping the future and elevating our infrastructure to meet our developmental aspirations.”

Four main passenger stations for the train will be unveiled in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Fujairah, which will serve as vital hubs connecting residential, industrial, and commercial areas. These stations will also integrate with other transportation networks, including the metro and buses, ensuring a seamless and comfortable travel experience for everyone.

The high-speed train will operate at speeds of up to 350 km/h, while the passenger train fleet will run at 200 km/h, making travel between UAE cities faster and more efficient. The design of the train and stations has been carried out according to the highest standards of innovation and sustainability, inspired by UAE heritage.

The ceremony included the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Executive Council of Abu Dhabi and the Executive Council of Dubai, confirming their close partnership to support the project’s infrastructure. The preliminary designs were also approved, and tenders for the project have been launched, paving the way for its development and implementation in the coming years.

His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohammed emphasized that the project represents the leadership’s vision for a transition to a smart and sustainable transport system, highlighting that it will enhance the competitiveness of the national economy and support sustainable development. He added that this project will strengthen economic and social ties between the emirates and position the UAE as a leader in modern transportation.
