Biography of Fouad Arif Appointed by HM the King as Director General of Moroccan News Agency

Fouad Arif, whom His Majesty King Mohammed VI appointed, Friday, Director General of the Moroccan News Agency (MAP), holds a diploma of Higher Specialized Studies from the King Fahd Higher School of Translation in Tangier, obtained in 1993.

Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates since 2019, Arif began his career as a journalist at MAP Agency, which he joined in 1994 before serving various positions of responsibility within the same Agency.

He held the positions of international editor-in-chief, before being appointed head of the Agency’s office in Paris (2008-2009) and Washington in 2009.

With the launch by the Agency of its policy of international poles, Arif, was the first director of the North America pole (2013-2018) with headquarters in Washington and several correspondents in New York, Canada, Mexico, Santo Domingo and Panama City.

Fouad Arif, who was elected in 2018 as secretary general of the National Press Club (NPC) in Washington, D.C., one of the most prestigious press organizations in the world, founded in 1908, has interviewed several high-ranking U.S. political figures, including Hillary Clinton and Colin Powell.
