“This decision is a very good positive message that improves the conditions for us to move forward with this bid,” Sanchez said at a joint press conference in Lanzarote (Canary Islands) with the Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa, at the end of their bilateral joint meeting.
“We must be pleased with this decision, because it puts this bid in a better position to win this race,” said the head of the Spanish Executive.
He added that this bid also strengthens relations between Europe and Africa and between three countries that share many interests.
HM King Mohammed VI announced, Tuesday, Morocco’s joint bid, with Spain and Portugal, to host the 2030 World Cup, in a message on the occasion of the presentation of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) President’s Outstanding Achievement Award 2022 to the Sovereign in Rwanda’s Kigali.
“This joint bid, which is unprecedented in football history, will bring together Africa and Europe, the northern and southern Mediterranean, and the African, Arab and Euro-Mediterranean worlds,” said the Sovereign.
HM the King further specified that this candidacy “will also bring out the best in all of us – in effect, a combination of genius, creativity, experience, and means.”
