Rabat World Human Rights Pre-Forum Calls for South-South Approach to Transitional Justice Migration Issues

Participants in this two-day pre-forum, organized by the National Council for Human Rights (CNDH), in collaboration with the International Centre for the Promotion of Human Rights (ICPDH)-UNESCO, stressed the need to protect human rights, especially those of women and children, during the phenomena due to climate change, while emphasizing the importance of establishing effective mechanisms for access to funding for countries affected by climate change.

They called for consolidating international cooperation by not hesitating to use international mechanisms in climate, while developing international policies to combat environmentally harmful behavior. They considered, in this regard, “climate and environmental crimes as crimes against humanity.

Agreeing with this, the head of the Department of Social Affairs of the Arab League, Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, said that climate justice involves the equitable distribution of costs and burdens between advanced and developing countries.

In this regard, she said, national human rights institutions play a crucial role in curbing the negative effects of climate change that have serious consequences on social justice.
