New York, Bourita and his Somali counterpart reaffirm commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Mr. Nasser Bourita, and his Somali counterpart, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, held fruitful talks on Tuesday on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the two ministers to highlight the quality of relations between His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the President of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
The two officials also expressed their satisfaction with the momentum of multisectoral cooperation being implemented under the 2026–2028 roadmap signed in Rabat on November 28, 2025, as well as their determination to further strengthen these cooperative ties across various sectors.
On this occasion, Mr. Abdisalam Abdi Ali underscored the importance his country attaches to the training and capacity-building of Somali youth, thanking the Kingdom of Morocco in this regard following the increase in the annual scholarship quota to 120 for Somali students at Moroccan universities and vocational training centers.
Mr. Bourita and Mr. Abdi Ali also expressed their satisfaction with the full convergence of views on regional and international issues of common interest.
