Chinese ambassador highlights expansion of Chinese investments in Morocco ahead of 2030 World Cup

Chinese Ambassador to Morocco Yu Jinsong highlighted the main areas of bilateral economic cooperation between Rabat and Beijing in a speech delivered during the celebration of the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the Congress Palace in Salé.
On this occasion, the ambassador said that the Mohammed VI Tangier Tech City currently hosts more than 50 companies, noting that construction has begun on several projects led by Chinese companies, including Shandong Yongsheng, Sunrise Textile and Guangzhou Tinci. Projects by Gotion High-Tech and Shenzhen BTR are also progressing, with production expected to begin in the coming period.
Yu Jinsong also noted that Chinese construction companies are contributing to several high-speed rail and highway projects in Morocco, describing these projects as part of the Kingdom’s preparations to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The ambassador also highlighted the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo held in Casablanca, describing it as an opportunity to strengthen economic cooperation between Morocco and China, while also developing trilateral cooperation between China, Morocco and Africa.
