In a festive atmosphere, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Rabat hosted a gathering on Thursday evening, September 3, dedicated to welcoming Moroccan students awarded the “Ambassador’s Scholarship” and presenting them with their scholarships, in the presence of a number of figures from the higher education sector and Moroccan-Chinese relations.
The initiative is part of efforts to strengthen academic exchange opportunities between Rabat and Beijing and provide high-achieving Moroccan students with the opportunity to undertake a two-year academic experience at Chinese higher education institutions, offering them new training opportunities and exposure to diverse scientific and cultural experiences.
China’s Ambassador to Morocco, Yu Jinsong, attended the event alongside prominent figures interested in academic cooperation and Moroccan-Chinese relations, as well as scholarship recipients and their parents. The gathering combined recognition of the students’ achievements with preparations for the next stage of their academic journey.

The event’s programme went beyond the presentation of scholarships and the welcoming of new recipients. It also provided an opportunity to introduce them to various aspects of student life in China and help them prepare for their move to their host country.
In this context, several Moroccan students who had previously benefited from the programme and experienced studying in China shared their personal experiences, offering new recipients a range of advice and guidance on studying, living abroad and adapting to a new environment.
The gathering also provided a platform for direct interaction between new and former scholarship students, giving the beneficiaries a clearer picture of the experience that awaits them and helping ease the apprehension associated with embarking on a new academic experience outside Morocco.
It is worth noting that the “Ambassador’s Scholarship” seeks to make education an additional bridge for strengthening ties between Morocco and China by investing in students and encouraging them to acquire new knowledge and expertise.
The initiative aims to enable them, in the future, to contribute to the development of their respective fields and to put the skills they acquire during their studies in China to use in supporting Morocco’s development efforts.
