The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Malawi, Dr. George Chaponda, commended on Wednesday in Rabat the Royal Atlantic Initiatives aimed at making Africa a prosperous and stable continent, as well as the initiative related to opening access for Sahel countries.

The Malawian top diplomat, who is on his first working visit to Morocco, also stressed that the President of the Republic of Malawi, H.E. Peter Mutharika, described the Royal Initiative to foster Atlantic Ocean access for Sahel States as visionary and full of opportunities for strengthening intra-African cooperation.

During his talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita, Dr. Chaponda further stated that this Initiative will significantly contribute to the socio-economic development of the region, while reinforcing the stability and prosperity of the African continent, given its integrated and inclusive approach that places South-South cooperation at the heart of continental development.

He stressed that it embodies a strategic vision aimed at transforming the challenges facing the Sahel into opportunities for shared growth by promoting connectivity, economic integration, and regional security.

The Malawian Minister added that this approach, based on African solidarity and co-development, illustrates the leadership role of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in promoting a united, resilient, and forward-looking Africa.
