Fiery Speeches in Public, Submission Behind the Scenes: The True Face of the Algerian Regime

ALDAR / Iman Alaoui

The Algerian regime has once again proven itself a world champion in the art of contradiction. While it floods the media with fiery speeches against what it calls “the entity,” and sells to the people tales of “resistance” and “Palestine, whether oppressed or oppressor,” it simultaneously votes at the United Nations General Assembly in favor of the two-state solution — an explicit recognition of Israel as a state alongside Palestine.

Can there be a greater contradiction than this? Algeria, which presents itself as “the protective shield of Palestine,” suddenly becomes a partner in Israel’s international recognition. Its media slogan: “Death to the entity,” but behind the scenes, its true motto is: “Yes to the two-state solution.”

The scene now resembles a grotesque comedy: long speeches, internal applause, and resounding phrases such as “Glory to Palestine”… only to end with a vote supporting a resolution that recognizes Israel. It is simply the diplomacy of a political juggler: leaps in the air, thunderous cries, then silent submission behind the scenes.

The Palestinian people do not need “supporters” waving empty placards; they need sincere positions. As for the Algerian regime, it has chosen to be a mere political clown: shouting loudly in public, shaking hands with its adversary in private.

In short: the Algerian regime is a champion of hollow slogans… and a timid actor when it comes to taking real decisions.
