The Kingdom of Morocco is celebrating the third anniversary of the launch of its electronic visa system (E-Visa), which has quickly become a central tool for enhancing the country’s tourism appeal, modernizing its consular services, and reinforcing its openness to the world.
A Digital Shift in Visa Management
The E-Visa system allows travelers from 118 countries to obtain a visa to enter Moroccan territory through a digital platform, without the need to visit an embassy or consulate. This type of visa grants individual entry into Morocco for a continuous stay of up to 30 days, with a validity period of 180 days from the date of issuance. The processing time is set at 72 hours for standard applications and just 24 hours for urgent requests—demonstrating the system’s efficiency and responsiveness.
Steady Growth in Applications
Since the launch of this digital service, nearly 500,000 E-Visa applications have been processed, reflecting the growing interest in visiting Morocco. The third year of implementation saw a significant increase in requests, reaching 187,895 applications, marking a notable rise compared to the second year. This indicates the maturity of the system and the growing trust of its users.
Tourism First… Then Business
Tourist visas make up the vast majority of issued visas—94.1% of the total—highlighting the crucial role this system plays in boosting Morocco’s image as a global travel destination. Meanwhile, business visas, which account for 5.9% of applications, have contributed to supporting economic diplomacy and facilitating trade exchanges.
Key Support for Major International Events
The E-Visa system has also enhanced Morocco’s ability to host large-scale international events, such as the 2023 Annual Meetings of the World Bank and the IMF in Marrakech, which welcomed participants from 109 countries. The system also facilitated the participation of 118 countries in GITEX Africa Morocco 2024, with 117 countries expected to attend the 2025 edition—demonstrating the system’s flexibility and alignment with the demands of openness and diversity.
A Strategic Tool for Modernization and Investment
The results confirm that the electronic visa is more than just a means of entry—it is a strategic instrument for modernizing consular services, supporting the tourism sector, strengthening Morocco’s position as a hub for conferences and global events, and easing connections with economic partners and potential investors from across the world.
In just three years, Morocco’s E-Visa system has proven its effectiveness and efficiency, embodying the Kingdom’s commitment to digital transformation, openness, and enhancing its standing on the global tourism and investment map.
